Every now and then you just need chocolate. Not a square. Not a bite. A proper fudgy brownie.
But if you're like me, you also want to enjoy dessert without feeling like you just derailed your entire week. That’s exactly how these brownies were born.
I was inspired by a few videos I came across online and decided to tweak the recipe slightly to better suit a larger family (because in this house, if I make a small batch… it disappears in 4.7 seconds).
These brownies are:
✔ Flourless
✔ Naturally sweetened mostly with bananas
✔ Rich and fudgy
✔ Simple ingredients
✔ Kid and family approved
Now listen — I’m not calling these flourless brownies the healthiest dessert on the planet. They’re still a treat. But they’re a lower-calorie, more wholesome option when you want something sweet without going overboard.
And the texture? Super moist. Deep chocolate flavor. Soft and fudgy inside. Honestly, we devoured them.
Flourless Fudgy Low-Calorie Brownies Ingredients
5 ripe bananas (the riper, the better — brown spots = more sweetness)
3/4 cup peanut butter(You can substitute with almond butter, cashew butter, or any nut/seed butter)
6½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup dark chocolate chips(You can reduce or omit for a lower sugar version)
Makes: 12 servings
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a square baking pan (8x8 works well - you can opt for a larger pan for thinner brownies) with parchment paper
In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
Add the peanut butter and mix until fully combined.
Stir in the unsweetened cocoa powder until the batter is rich and chocolatey.
Fold in the dark chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until set but still slightly soft in the center.
Let cool before slicing — they firm up as they cool and get even fudgier.
Why These Flourless Brownies Are a Lighter Treat
Instead of flour, oil, and refined sugar, this recipe uses:
Bananas for natural sweetness and moisture
Nut butter for healthy fats and protein
Cocoa powder for deep chocolate flavor without added sugar
You still get that indulgent brownie experience — just with more nutrient-dense ingredients. Tips & Variations
Lower sugar: Reduce or skip the chocolate chips
Nut-free: Use sunflower seed butter
Extra indulgent: Sprinkle a few chips on top before baking
Meal prep win: Store in the fridge — they get even fudgier the next day
These flourless brownies are perfect for when you want something sweet after dinner, to tuck into lunchboxes, or to have with a cup of tea when the craving hits. A treat you can enjoy without the full-on sugar crash? Yes please.
If you try them, let me know — because in this house, they’re already on repeat.
