My 39th Birthday: A Healthy & Happy Pre-40 Milestone Year

I recently celebrated my 39th birthday and I wanted to share about the exciting journey to my 40th milestone year. I've always embraced my age, seeing it as a badge of honour. This year, however, I'm focusing on a "pre-40 glow-up" – prioritizing my health and happiness to make the most of this next chapter. In short I want to be in THE BEST mental and physical shape when I turn 40 and I have 1 year to achieve that.

Why I'm Embracing My 39th Birthday

Many people dread aging, but I believe each year is a testament to life lived. Turning 39 is a reminder of how far I've come, and a motivator to live my best life. Approaching 40, I want to ensure I'm in the best possible shape, both mentally and physically, to enjoy many more years with my family. This isn't just about birthdays; it's about a healthy lifestyle. It's about truly enjoying my next chapter of life.



My Pre-40 Health and Wellness Goals

This year is all about prioritizing self-care and building a healthy lifestyle. My goals include:

  • Improving my fitness goals

  • Adopting healthy eating habits

  • Practicing mindfulness and stress management

Prioritizing Physical Health

To achieve my fitness goals, I'm focusing on activities I enjoy, like walking and riding my Peloton. Regular exercise is crucial for both physical and mental well-being. I am also focusing on healthy eating by cooking well balanced meals - putting nutrition above all else. Here's the thing as we age there so many things our body through - perimenopause, hormonal imbalances etc. Being intentional about my nutrition can play a positive role in these experiences.

Focusing on Mental Well-being

Mental health is just as important as physical health. This era of my life is about preventing burnout, setting necessary boundaries, and fostering calm and happiness in my life. I'm incorporating mindfulness practices, such as meditation and journaling, to manage stress and improve mental clarity. I also make time for hobbies and connecting with loved ones.

Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle Before 40

If you're also looking to improve your health and wellness, here are some tips:

  • Regular Exercise: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.

  • Balanced Diet: Focus on whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains.

  • Adequate Sleep: Prioritize 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.

  • Stress Management: Practice mindfulness, meditation, or other stress-reducing techniques.

  • Regular Check-ups: Schedule regular check-ups with your doctor and dentist.

  • Incorporate self-care: Make time for activities that bring you joy.

  • Set realistic goals: Make small, achievable changes to your lifestyle.

  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Approaching 40: A Milestone Year

Turning 39 is an exciting chapter in my life. I'm committed to making this year count by focusing on my health, happiness, and overall well-being. By prioritizing my health and well-being, I'm setting myself up to thrive. Turning 40 is a significant milestone, and I want to enter this new decade feeling strong and confident.
