Let's talk ice cream, but not just any ice cream – we're diving into the world of floral flavours with my homemade lavender ice cream! You know, I've always loved experimenting in the kitchen, but recently, I found a spark of inspiration from an unexpected place. I was watching Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, on her Netflix show "With Love, Meghan," and I was absolutely captivated by how she used edible flowers in her culinary creations. It got me thinking, "Why not bring that same elegant, floral touch to my own recipes?" And that's how my lavender ice cream journey began.


I wanted to create something light, refreshing, and utterly delicious. Lavender seemed like the perfect choice – its delicate, fragrant notes were just what I was looking for. Beyond its beautiful aroma and taste, lavender actually has some fantastic benefits! It's known for its calming properties, which can help reduce stress and anxiety. Plus, it's packed with antioxidants, which are great for your overall health. So, not only is this ice cream delicious, but it's also a little boost of wellness!


Now, I'll be honest, I wasn't sure how it would turn out, or if my kids would even give it a chance. But let me tell you, this recipe was a total hit! The process of making it was so much fun. I infused the creamy base with the subtle essence of lavender, and the aroma alone was enough to make my kitchen feel like a little slice of heaven. And the taste? Oh my goodness, so good!

What surprised me the most was how much my kids loved it. They're usually pretty picky eaters, but they couldn't get enough of this lavender ice cream. It's the perfect balance of sweet and floral, and it's just so refreshing. Perfect for a warm day.

I'm so excited to share this recipe with you all. It's easy, fun, and the results are absolutely divine. Whether you're an ice cream aficionado or just looking for a unique and delicious dessert, I guarantee you'll love this lavender creation.

Lavender Ice Cream Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract



Lavender Ice Cream Directions:


  • Heat the milk and cream: In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream/whipping cream and whole milk. Heat over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Avoid boiling.

  • Steep the lavender: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the dried lavender. Cover and let it steep for about 15 minutes.

  • Strain your mixture: Use a fine-mesh strainer to separate the lavender from the cream, pressing down to extract as much flavour as possible.

  • Add your Sweetener: Stir in the honey (or your sweetener of choice). Heat gently, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved. If you want a more intense lavender flavour you can also add 1/3 - 1/2 cup of lavender syrup. Remove from heat and let it cool.

  • Chill your Mixture: Pour the mixture into a bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 - 4 hours, preferably overnight (if you have time), to let the flavours settle and the mixture to chill completely.

  • Add vanilla: Once the mixture is chilled, stir in the vanilla extract.

  • Freeze your Mixture: Pour the mixture into your Ninja Creami pint container and freeze for 24 hours.

  • Churn your Ice Cream: After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer. Load the pint into the Ninja Creami, select the “Ice Cream” function, and process until smooth. Respin if necessary.

  • Serve and Enjoy!
